SEPANG - Orang ramai di sekitar Litar Antarabangsa Sepang (SIC) dan kawasan berdekatan dinasihatkan supaya tidak cemas sekiranya melihat pesawat terbang pada altitud lebih rendah daripada biasa mulai esok hingga Ahad ini sempena perlumbaan Formula 1 (F1) Gulf Air Grand Prix (GP) Bahrain.Pihak Berkuasa Penerbangan Awam Malaysia (CAAM) dalam kenyataan pada Selasa memaklumkan operasi penerbangan rendah itu dijadualkan berlangsung antara jam 2 hingga 3 petang sepanjang tempoh berkenaan, meliputi SIC dan kawasan sekitarnya di Sepang, Selangor.Operasi itu bagi memberi laluan kepada pertunjukan udara (fly-past) oleh Gulf Air pada hari perlumbaan Ahad ini, manakala raptai dijadualkan berlangsung esok."Orang ramai di kawasan berkenaan mungkin melihat pesawat terbang pada altitud lebih rendah daripada biasa dan dinasihatkan supaya tidak cemas."Operasi ini telah diselaraskan dengan pihak berkuasa berkaitan dan akan dilaksanakan mengikut keperluan keselamatan yang ditetapkan," menurut kenyataan itu.CAAM turut mengingatkan orang ramai bahawa pengendalian dron tanpa kebenaran di ruang udara terjejas adalah dilarang sepanjang acara berkenaan kerana boleh mendatangkan risiko serius kepada pesawat yang terbang rendah serta individu di darat.Menurut CAAM, pengendali dron perlu mendapatkan kebenaran sewajarnya sebelum melakukan sebarang penerbangan."Pengendali yang menerbangkan dron tanpa kebenaran boleh dikenakan siasatan dan tindakan penguatkuasaan mengikut Peraturan-Peraturan Penerbangan Awam 2016 serta undang-undang lain yang berkaitan," menurut kenyataan itu.Sehubungan itu, CAAM meminta orang ramai dan pengendali dron mematuhi sekatan berkenaan serta memberikan kerjasama kepada pihak berkuasa.CAAM memaklumkan ruang udara terjejas perlu dipastikan bebas daripada sebarang gangguan bagi menjamin kelancaran dan keselamatan operasi pesawat, selain keselamatan pengunjung serta penduduk di kawasan sekitar.SIC kembali menjadi pentas F1 selepas sembilan tahun apabila dipilih sebagai lokasi penganjuran GP Gulf Air Bahrain susulan pembatalan perlumbaan di Bahrain yang sepatutnya berlangsung pada April lepas berikutan situasi keselamatan di rantau Timur Tengah.SIC sebelum ini menjadi tuan rumah GP Malaysia selama hampir dua dekad, bermula dengan perlumbaan sulung pada 1999 sebelum edisi 2017 menjadi yang terakhir selepas kerajaan memutuskan untuk tidak meneruskan penganjurannya

PUTRAJAYA - Police are tracing the driver of a lorry who allegedly fled the scene after a crash that killed a motorcycle rider and pillion rider at KM1.5 of Jalan Persiaran Timur yesterday.Sepang district police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman said the crash, at about 5 pm, involved a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle and a lorry whose registration number and type have yet to be identified.He said initial investigations found that the motorcycle was travelling from Dengkil towards Putrajaya before it was believed to have collided with the rear of the lorry."Based on information fromwitnesses at the scene, the lorry was then driven away from the scene, he said in a statement here today.Norhizam said the motorcycle rider, a local man in his 40s who worked as a techniciansustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.The pillion rider, a local woman in her 30s who worked at a private university, sustained serious injuries to her right leg and was also pronounced dead at the scene.The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving resulting in death.Police have urged witnesses to come forward to assist the investigation, particularly in tracing the lorry driver, and advised the public against speculation that could interfere with the investigation.Those with information are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Fadzil Zainol Abidin at 019-6488474 or 03-87774264
