'While 'clever' Muslims argue among themselves, Allah chooses Greta Thunberg to lead GSF' - ZRA - Sinardaily - 6/10 2:42 pm

If Muslims refuse to fight for it, He will choose others to do so, he said.Zainal added that Thunbergs leadership offers a profound moral lesson for all believers. He questioned whether those who see themselves as people of faith and intellect took a moment to reflect.Allah chose a person with Aspergers to lead the GSF and even people like me have followed her. Because truth, courage, love and compassion for Gaza are with her.Meanwhile, the so-called clever ones remain busy quarrelling among themselves, he said.Earlier this month, international outrage erupted after Israel intercepted GSF, a humanitarian convoy of 45 vessels carrying over 450 activists from 47 countries, aimed at breaking Israels blockade of Gaza. The flotilla was seized by Israeli forces between Oct 1 and Oct 3, resulting in illegal arrests of activists and reports of mistreatment.Activists who had been deported reported severe abuse in detention, being beaten up, zip-tied, denied food and medication and forced to drink from toilets.Witnesses said Thunberg was dragged on the ground, forced to kiss the Israeli flag, and paraded like a trophy.Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir declared he was proud of the harsh treatment, calling the activists supporters of terrorism.Several Malaysians on the mission including singer Nur Heliza Helmi and her sister, Nur Hazwani Afiqah, Nurfarahin Romli, better known as Farah Lee, Nurul Hidayah Mohd Amin, also known as Ardell Aryana and singer Nur Fazelah Mad Tahil, also known as Zizi Kirana were unlawfully detained and later released through diplomatic coordination involving Turkiye, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan and the United States. They were flown to Istanbul on Oct 5 after being confirmed safe but exhausted and starving following their ordeal. The incident sparked massive global protests across Rome, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, London, Lahore, Kolkata, Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur, where millions condemned Israels actions and called its blockade a genocide against Palestinians. The illegal detention of GSF participants and continued demonstrations had reignited debate over Israels blockade of Gaza, widely criticised as a violation of international law and a form of collective punishment.

Signing deportation letters ensured safe, swift release of Malaysian detainees - Experts - Sinardaily - 6/10 9:52 am

the main goal of the Global Sumud Flotilla was never to engage in confrontation, arrests, or fighting with Israel. The primary objective was to send a message to the whole world, Prof Dr Mohd Mizan Mohamad Aslam of the National Defence University of Malaysia told BERNAMA on Sunday.Mohd Mizan, who is Senior Lecturer at the Department of International Relations, Security, and Law, said that although the flotilla carried humanitarian supplies such as food, aid packages, and infant formula, the quantity was not significant given the size of the vessel."What truly mattered was conveying a message to the international community, especially to the Western powers such as the United States, NATO, and others, he said.According to him, the mission aimed to demonstrate that even ordinary citizens could act in solidarity with the people of Gaza despite the ongoing blockade."We wanted to show that even as ordinary citizens, just 500 people among eight billion, we could still take action and demonstrate solidarity with the people of Gaza by delivering essential aid.He said those criticising the Foreign Ministry misunderstand the true purpose of the mission."It was never about provoking confrontation; it was about highlighting the dire situation in Gaza and exposing the inhumane actions and cruelty of the Israeli authorities, who continue to impose an illegal blockade restricting land, sea, and air access, he said.Mohd Mizan added that once the participants were detained, the immediate priority was to ensure their safety and secure their prompt release."The main aim was to deliver the message and complete the mission

Designer Rizalman slammed for focusing on 'mahram' as Malaysian activists face detention - Sinardaily - 3/10 6:04 pm

SHAH ALAM As Malaysian activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) faced interception by the Israeli military, local conversations back home took a different turn when renowned designer Datuk Rizalman Ibrahim raised the issue of 'mahram' for women activists, triggering heated reactions online. When news broke that Malaysian activists, including celebrities such as Zizi Kirana and PU Rahmat, were detained by the Israeli military en route to Gaza, Rizalman shared an Instagram Stories post that reignited an age-old discussion; the importance of 'mahram' for women.Uploading a screenshot of a followers message about the activists, he responded with a pointed question. What did I say about mahram? Any woman, if accompanied by her mahram, would not dare do anything improper, because her mahram (father/brother/husband) will advise her before something undesirable happens, he wrote. The comments did not sit well with many Malaysians, who slammed Rizalman for bringing up the issue during such a critical moment. One netizen said that everyone already understands the concept of mahram, but people are upset because at a time of worry and crisis, Rizalman is focusing on such issues instead of waiting until things settle down. They pointed out that even religious scholars are praying for the activists safety, yet Rizalman made it seem as though everything happened because of the mahram matter.Another person stated that Rizalman has always been like that, constantly ranting, and added that some people think too highly of themselves, which was the reason they unfollowed him.Others were far more direct in their criticism, saying Rizalman's opinion was unnecessary and that it was better to ignore those who only criticise without taking action. They also highlighted that in this case, it is the women who are showing the spirit of jihad, while men like him do not, calling it a shameful attitude.Aaron Aziz weighs in on activismAt the same time, actor Datuk Aaron Aziz drew attention when he urged that celebrities should not be pressured to comment on Gaza just to satisfy netizens. The uproar around Rizalman mirrored an earlier episode, when clips of Aarons remarks regarding Gaza were taken out of context and quickly went viral. Some netizens accused him of being dismissive, though the actor clarified his stance in an interview. We cannot force people to speak up just because they are asked to

Mahathir says Trump-Netanyahu peace plan a threat, not a genuine solution - Sinardaily - 3/10 12:50 am

SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has rejected the latest Israel-Palestine peace plan proposed by United States President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it not a peace offer but a threat. The 20-point proposal was aimed at halting Israels assault on Gaza, but Dr Mahathir said its conditions were impossible for Hamas to accept. He noted that the plan gave Hamas four days to comply, warning that rejection would result in even harsher attacks on Gaza. With more than 60,000 Palestinians already killed in Israeli bombings, Dr Mahathir said the proposal would only dishonour the sacrifices of the Palestinian people.Trump together with Netanyahu want to take over Gaza, which means the Palestinians must surrender. How they expect Hamas to accept surrender as a solution is something very hard to comprehend," he said on Friday. While the proposal outlines the possibility of a Palestinian state and a long-term de-radicalisation programme, international observers have dismissed it as a political show to suppress global condemnation of Israels actions.Dr Mahathir claimed that Trump has never been a peacemaker, relying instead on coercion.Trump was not a figure of peace, but someone who used threats of high tariffs, economic sanctions and various demands to stop wars, methods which failed to resolve the Ukraine-Russia conflict, he said.He warned that the plans rejection would not bring peace but escalate the humanitarian crisis.I will not be surprised if Hamas rejects this proposal
